Tim Miller, director of the massively successful Deadpool (2016), who was set to direct its sequel, HAS LEFT THE PROJECT following creative differences with producer/actor Ryan Reynolds.

Allegedly, Mr. Reynolds possesses more control in the decision-making for Deadpool 2, which saw a creative clash with director Tim Miller.

In Hollywood’s term, the concept of the sequel is to be “bigger and better than the original”, therefore if Deadpool 2 is set to reach the next level of comic-book/superhero film-making, maybe Miller wanted to maintain the Deadpool series as a subtle comedic alternative to Marvel’s Cinematic Universe and DC/Warner Bros.’ Extended Universe, but instead the sequel is set to be overly similar to its competition to the MCU DCEU. Who knows?

Despite Miller walking away from (what will probably be) the most anticipated comic-book/superhero sequel in the coming 18 months, the studio behind Deadpool/Deadpool 2, 20th Century Fox, still expect Miller to direct another of their projects – the adaptation of sci-fi novel Influx (Suarez, 2014).

Hilariously, since the news of this was first released, a petition has emerged for Quentin Tarantino to direct Deadpool 2! If that were to happen, then Deadpool 2 would likely be the most violent comic-book/superhero film ever…the petition can be found here: https://www.change.org/p/ryan-…
